Town response to snow and ice control on February 16-17, 2025

Published: February 18, 2025 @ 3:00 p.m.

The Town’s Public Works Department crews have been working hard in response to the weather system of snow and ice from February 16-17, 2025.

Crews have been operating all available equipment, during and after the weather system.

They continue their efforts of snow and ice removal from Town roads and sidewalks.

Pedestrians are reminded of the following safety tips

Wear appropriate footwear, such as boots with good traction/grips, to prevent slipping on icy surfaces;

Dress in layers to stay warm;

Walk slowly and carefully, taking small steps to maintain balance on slippery surfaces;

Make eye contact with approaching motorists before crossing the road;

Stay visible by wearing reflective clothing;

Be aware of your surroundings and watch out for ice patches or other hazards.

Reminders for motorists

Allow for extra travel time;

Keep a safe distance from other vehicles;

Pay extra attention for pedestrians.

Did You Know? Icy conditions by themselves, or combined with snow, require special operations. This may include applying a sand/salt mix at intersections, hills and heavily traveled routes.
