Greater Saint John Regional Facilities Commission

Our Town is one of the municipalities that contribute to the Greater Saint John Regional Facilities Commission. The contribution goes towards the operating costs of these five regional facilities:

Canada Games Aquatic Centre
Imperial Theatre
Saint John Arts Centre
Saint John Trade and Convention Centre
TD Station

The Greater Saint John Regional Facilities Commission Act

The Act was incorporated through provincial legislation known as Greater Saint John Regional Facilities Commission Act:

“participating municipality” means Grand Bay-Westfield, Quispamsis, Rothesay and the City of Saint John.
“regional facility” means
(a) the facility under the control and management of the Saint John Arts Centre Inc., called the Saint John Arts Centre,
(b) the facility under the control and management of the Saint John Aquatic Centre Commission called the Canada Games Aquatic Centre,
(c) the facility under the control and management of the Harbour Station Commission called Harbour Station (now known as TD Station),
(d) the facility under the control and management of Imperial Theatre Inc., called the Imperial Theatre, and
(e) the facility under the control of The City of Saint John called the Saint John Trade and Convention Centre.

Oversight is provided by appointment from member Councils.

A formula is used to calculate each municipality’s contribution.
