Private Garbage Collection
Garbage collection services in the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield are handled privately. It is your responsibility as a homeowner to either bring your garbage to the landfill or contact a private contractor for regular waste pick up. Currently an area contractor, Trash It, offers regular waste pick up.
Contact Trash-It at (506) 635-8458
You can also choose to personally transport waste to the nearby Crane Mountain Landfill site. A Waste Drop Off, a Compost Drop Off, and Blue Bin Recycling are located at the Landfill’s Public Drop Off near the Scale House. To access the facility use Exit 90 or follow River Valley Drive to the facility near HWY #7.
You can recycle your household cardboard, paper, boxboard, plastic, metal, and milk containers by bringing them to the Blue Bins. Area Blue Bin Recycling is located at the local Foodland parking lot and at the River Road Co-op parking lot or take them to the Crane Mountain Landfill site. For more information about recycling and compost visit FundyRecycles.com or call (506) 738-1212.
Yard Waste (brush, leaves, weeds, grass etc.) is only accepted as compost at the Landfill site. Yard Waste packaged in black or coloured bags will not be accepted. Acceptable packaging for Yard Waste:
- brown paper bags, compostable or clear plastic bags
- brush and twigs can be bundled and tied with string; bundles should be less than 4’ in length; branches no more than 2” in diameter.
Our local Redemption Centre, a bottle exchange depot, is located at the corner of River Valley Drive and Col. Nase Blvd. It will take your returnable bottles, cans, etc. in exchange for the going refund rates.
