The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield remains committed to providing safe and efficient snow and ice control operations throughout the winter season. Beginning in the 2023-2024 winter season, the Town’s Public Works Department will conduct snow and ice control operations (previously conducted by a contractor).
The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield is currently collecting feedback from residents regarding the proposed snow and ice control service levels.
To provide effective and efficient service to residents, direction and guidance is required from Council. The adoption of the Snow and Ice Control Plan by Council will outline what service level is desired. The cost of providing service changes according to the level of service requested.
The draft Snow and Ice Control Plan uses a priority ranking for all roadways to determine when they will be serviced, how often municipal properties and sidewalks will be serviced, and when salting will occur. Ranking of roadways depends on several factors including traffic volumes, steepness and time of day.
The draft Snow and Ice Control Plan is recommended as the service level for the Town going forward, with operations entirely in-house.
