Town of Grand Bay-Westfield welcomes the Sanikov family from Ukraine to the community

The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield welcomed the Sanikov family to the community at a small gathering on Monday, May 30, 2022 at the Brundage Point River Centre.

The Sanikov family arrived in Grand Bay-Westfield just a few short weeks ago after leaving their home in war-torn Ukraine. The Sanikov family includes Rita and her children Dasha and Roma, as well as Rita’s sister Lora.

Hon. Bill Oliver, MLA Kings Centre, brought greetings on behalf of the Government of New Brunswick.

“On behalf of the Government of New Brunswick, I would like to extend a very special welcome to the four newest residents of Grand Bay-Westfield. I have no doubt that this wonderful community will continue to welcome you with open arms, helping you in any way you may need it.” – Hon. Bill Oliver, MLA Kings Centre.

The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield extends a special thank you to Rahma Kouraich, Stella Taillefer, Annie Dunn and other community members for their support including fundraising for the Sanikov family. We applaud your dedication towards the Town’s vision of A welcoming place to live, grow and thrive.

On behalf of the Sanikov family, Rita addressed everyone gathered with heartfelt words of appreciation, including the following note presented to Mayor Merrifield.
