With construction season underway, the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield reminds motorists of the following driving safety tips in construction zones.
Slow down and obey posted speed limits when driving through construction zones;
Obey all rules and signs even when people and equipment are not working – these are there for your safety and there may be danger present;
Pay attention to traffic signalers (flaggers);
Stay alert and focused while driving; take note of where construction zones begin and end;
Always keep a safe distance between your vehicle and construction workers, construction equipment and vehicles in front of you;
Avoid driving while distracted;
Plan trips with the expectation that travel will take longer during construction season; and
Use alternate routes if the location of a construction zone is known, especially zones operating over a lengthy period of time.
