The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield is excited to announce it has received $7,500 in funding from Trans Canada Trail to support the central portion of the Grand Bay-Westfield Municipal Heritage Trail from Milligan Brook to the Veterans Peace Park, that is officially a part of the Trans Canada Trail.
This grant is part of the 2026 Trail Care Program offered by Trans Canada Trail, the organization that advocates for, stewards and champions Canada’s nationwide trail system. The Program promotes volunteerism across Canada by supporting a variety of volunteer-led projects including volunteer training and appreciation events, trail clean ups and repairs, tree planting, and other minor maintenance projects.
In Grand Bay-Westfield, the grant will be used to improve drainage and add crushed gravel to reduce washouts and puddle development. It will also support rock, stump, and debris removal on the Municipal Heritage Trail, which is part of the 29,500-kilometre Trans Canada Trail.
