The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield announces that Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) John Enns-Wind has provided notice of his resignation, effective July 6, 2026.
Mr. Enns‑Wind joined the Town in August 2020 and has provided valued and steady leadership to the organization, helping to guide municipal operations while supporting the advancement of Council’s strategic priorities. Throughout his tenure, he has worked collaboratively with both Council and Staff to strengthen the Town’s internal capacity and ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality municipal services.
Under his leadership, the Town made meaningful progress in several key areas, including Smart Growth, Organizational Capacity, Infrastructure and Climate Adaptation, and Community Vitality. This work included advancing long-term planning initiatives, strengthening financial and organizational frameworks, investing in infrastructure, supporting economic development, responding to local governance reform, and fostering strong community partnerships.
His contributions have helped to establish a solid foundation for the Town’s continued growth and long-term success.
Reflecting on his time with the Town, he shared: “Serving the community of Grand Bay-Westfield has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my career. I am proud of the progress we have made together in strengthening the organization and advancing key priorities for the Town. I leave with a deep sense of gratitude for Council, Staff, and the community – and with confidence that the strong foundation in place will support continued growth and success in the years ahead.” – John Enns-Wind
Mayor Brittany Merrifield acknowledged Mr. Enns‑Wind’s contributions, stating, “On behalf of Council and the community, I want to thank John for his leadership and service to Grand Bay-Westfield over the past several years. He has played an important role in helping guide the organization through a period of significant change and growth, including local governance reform, strategic planning initiatives, and major infrastructure and community development work. John has approached this role with professionalism, dedication, and a strong commitment to public service. A strong leadership team remains in place to ensure continuity as the organization moves forward.
Town Council has retained KBRS to lead the recruitment process for the Town’s next Chief Administrative Officer, with further updates to be shared as the process progresses.
