The Town recently installed one (1) wireless solar-powered Road Weather Information System (RWIS) to assist the Public Works Department in improving snow and ice control operations.

The RWIS station has been installed on Nerepis Road across from Mallard Drive.

The station collects and sends information to the Town’s Public Works Department including road surface temperature, wind speed and direction, slippery conditions and humidity. The station provides still images to allow a visual view of the intersection. It does not have video-recording capabilities.

The RWIS station will assist the Town meet Snow and Ice Control Plan standards, while contributing to our strategic priority of infrastructure and climate adaptation.
