The Naming Committee affirms “GRAND BAY-WESTFIELD” as the recommended name for the governing body of Entity 51

At a Naming Committee of Entity 51 meeting on May 4, 2022, the Naming Committee affirmed that the recommended name for the governing body (local government) of Entity 51 is: GRAND BAY-WESTFIELD

The voting results for the naming of Entity 51 are as follows:

There were 2,165 votes cast, with GRAND BAY-WESTFIELD receiving the required 51% (or more) in preferential voting.

The Transition Facilitator for Entity 51 will submit GRAND BAY-WESTFIELD to the Province. Pending approval by the Province, GRAND BAY-WESTFIELD will come into effect as the name for the governing body of Entity 51 on January 1, 2023.

The name submission phase of the naming process included a contest where those who submitted names that were selected to be on the ballot, would be entered into a random draw for three (3) prizes, $75.00 gift certificates for a local business. Whereas it was predetermined that the name “Grand Bay-Westfield” would automatically be included on the ballot, submissions with that name were excluded from the draw.

The random draw took place at the Naming Committee meeting on May 4. The winners are:

Winners will be contacted by Town Administration. Prizes may be claimed at the Town Office, Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. (excluding holidays).
