The Fundy Regional Service Commission Launches Region’s First Comprehensive Travel Activity Survey

On behalf of Fundy Regional Service Commission

Saint John, NB – March 30, 2026 – The Fundy Regional Service Commission (FRSC) has launched the Fundy
Travel Activity Survey (FundyTRAC), marking the region’s first comprehensive study designed to understand
how residents travel in their daily lives. The results will inform long-term transportation planning, including
the development of a Regional Public Transportation Plan.

FundyTRAC collects information about how people move within and between communities across the
region—from Grand Bay–Westfield all the way to Hampton—including where trips begin and end, why they
are made, when they occur, and the modes of transportation residents use.

The survey covers all seven communities in the region: the Fundy Rural District, Fundy–St. Martins, Grand
Bay–Westfield, Hampton, Quispamsis, Rothesay, and Saint John.

The FRSC has partnered with the Dalhousie Transportation Collaboratory (DalTRAC), a national leader in
transportation research. DalTRAC has completed similar surveys across the country, including in other parts
of New Brunswick.

“Understanding how people move throughout the Fundy Region is essential for building a transportation
system that reflects real community needs. By participating in FundyTRAC, residents are helping shape the
future of how we travel in our region,” said Robert Doucet, Chair of the Fundy Regional Service Commission
Board.

Why FundyTRAC Matters

The survey will help planners and decision-makers:
• Identify current travel patterns and transportation needs;
• Understand how different travel modes are used, including driving, transit, walking, and cycling; and
• Develop a Public Transportation Plan for the region.

How to Participate

Residents of the Fundy Region are encouraged to take part in this survey, which takes approximately 20
minutes to complete and is available at: FundyRegion.ca/survey.
As a thank you, those who complete it may opt to enter a draw to win one of five $100 gift cards.
