The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield remains committed towards its strategic priorities of Smart Growth, Organizational Capacity, Infrastructure and Climate Adaptation, and Community Vitality.
The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield recognizes the importance of outdoor activities to quality of life. A potential crosswalk at the intersection of Nerepis Road (Route 177) and Ferry Road, would allow pedestrians and cyclists to safely cross Nerepis Road, near the Brundage Point River Centre.
Englobe Corp. prepared an initial proposal for a crosswalk across Nerepis Road near Ferry Road. The initial proposal was not acceptable to Transport Canada with respect to rail sightlines, among other conditions.
Next steps include Town Administration meeting with Transport Canada, the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure, and NBM Railways.
Following those meetings, the Town will engage a consultant to perform a more detailed design to submit to Transport Canada, in the fall of 2023.
The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield remains committed to working with its partners on this complex initiative, and will keep the community updated.
