The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield remains committed to providing efficient snow and ice control throughout the winter season.

The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield Emergency Management Organization (EMO) is asking residents to be prepared for the snowfall (changing to rain) and wind warnings currently in effect for our region on Wednesday, January 10, 2024.

TOWN IS PREPARED

The Town’s EMO is closely monitoring the forecast, and is prepared to respond as necessary.

The Town’s Fire-Rescue Department is implementing its Storm Preparation Plan.

The Town’s Public Works Department is prepared for the weather event and all equipment is operational and ready.

REMINDERS FROM THE TOWN’S PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT

Sidewalks will not be serviced until after the weather event, to allow crews to focus their full attention on widening roads and maintaining cleared access to Town facilities, such as fire stations.

Please do not distract snow and ice control equipment Operators while they are in the process of hazardous work that requires their full attention.

Residents can assist snow and ice control operations by parking in driveways and keeping roadways clear.

Children should be reminded not to play on snowbanks or near the roadways.

Avoid non-essential travel until after the storm. Despite all preparations and efforts, winter weather events of this level will likely result in difficult and dangerous driving conditions.

Secure or store outdoor items such as garbage cans, compost bins, BBQs, sports equipment etc…
