Mailers (flyers) with complete voting details including voting access keys for the naming of the governing body (local government) of Entity 51 were delivered by Canada Post to the residents and businesses within the boundaries of Entity 51 during the week of April 13. VOTING PERIOD
Voting begins: Wednesday, April 13 at 8:00 a.m.
Voting ends: Monday, May 2 at 12:00 noon
The Naming Committee of Entity 51 asked residents, organizations and businesses within the boundaries of Entity 51 to submit name ideas for the governing body of Entity 51.
At a Naming Committee of Entity 51 meeting held on April 6, 2022, the Naming Committee determined the following names to be on the voting ballot.
Listed alphabetically
Grand Bay-Westfield (pre-determined)
Hillandale
Nerepis Valley
Three Rivers
Westfield
VOTING METHOD
The voting method being used is preferential voting. In preferential voting, voters rank all the names in order of their preference, with “1” being MOST preferred, “2” being the second preferred, “3” being the third preferred, “4” being the fourth preferred and “5” being the LEAST preferred ranking. Voters must rank at least one name. For more information on preferential voting, visit https://electionbuddy.com/preferential/
HOW TO VOTE
Visit www.entity51.ca and select the Vote Now icon to be directed to the election platform page (ElectionBuddy). Residents and businesses can then enter the access keys (codes) from the mailers and then select the orange Vote now icon to vote. Each access key is valid for one (1) vote. Access keys which are not used may be discarded or returned to the Town Office.
WHO CAN VOTE
Persons 18 years of age or older, residing or operating a business located within the boundaries of Entity 51.
HAVE MORE THAN TWO ADULTS IN YOUR RESIDENCE?
If your residence has more than two eligible voters, and you require extra access keys, please visit the Town Office with identification including proof of age and address. Persons requesting additional access keys will need to attest to the fact that they reside in the boundaries of Entity 51, do not have an access key and have not previously voted.
REQUIRE ACCESS TO AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE FOR VOTING?
Voting may also be completed electronically at the Town Office (fully accessible). The Town Office has an electronic device available for voting. This device may be used inside the Town Office or may be brought outside to the parking lot of the Town Office for “curbside” voting. To arrange for “curbside” voting in the parking lot of the Town Office, please contact (506) 738-6400.
