Public Notice: Third reading of various Town By-laws on April 24, 2023

Public Notice is hereby given that the Council of the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield intends to consider third readings (by title only) to the following By-laws at the Town Council meeting on April 24, 2023.

Town of Grand Bay-Westfield By-law Respecting Curfew;
Town of Grand Bay-Westfield By-law Respecting Grand Bay-Westfield Volunteer Fire-Rescue Department;
Town of Grand Bay-Westfield By-law Respecting Noise; and
Town of Grand Bay-Westfield By-law Respecting Temporary Businesses.

Background

Bill-16, An Act Respecting Local Governance Reform, 2022, no.2 stipulates in Section 21.4(1)

21.4(1) Despite subsection 40(3) of the Local Governance Act, the by-laws of a restructured local government shall not apply to the areas that are annexed to it as a result of the restructuring until such time as a bylaw is specifically made in that regard by the council or the Minister, as the case may be.

As a result, the Town’s By-laws require approval by the new Council of the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield.

Over the course of 2023, an ongoing review of all By-laws will be undertaken and brought to Council for their consideration.
