The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield is aware of power outages in our community from the weather event on December 18-19, 2023. The Town reminds residents that we’re here to help.

If you have lost power and need to charge your devices, please visit the Town Office at 609 River Valley Drive, Monday to Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (excluding holidays)

If you need to leave your home due to an extended power outage, and require assistance finding a safe place to stay:

Environment Canada has issued rainfall and wind warnings for our region from December 18-19, 2023. For details, visit HERE.

The Town’s Public Works Department crews have been preparing by clearing main catch basins and ensuring signage and barricades are ready.

The Town’s Fire-Rescue Department is implementing its Storm Preparation Plan.

The Grand Bay-Westfield Emergency Measures Organization (EMO) is closely monitoring weather forecasts, and is prepared to respond as necessary.

How residents can prepare

With a possibility of power outages, The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield Emergency Measures Organization (EMO) reminds residents to have their 72-hour emergency kits ready. For details, visit HERE.

To help prevent localized flooding, if able, keep the catch basins adjacent to properties free from debris.

With a potential of strong winds, residents are reminded to secure or move outdoor items such as garbage cans, compost bins, BBQs etc…

Reminders for motorists

Allow for extra travel time;
Obey any road closures (do not drive around barricades);
Ensure headlights are on; and
Keep a safe distance from other vehicles.
