Grand Bay-Westfield Council recommends 2023 Town budgets for Ministerial approval

At its meeting on November 14, 2022, Town of Grand Bay-Westfield Council approved the following motions regarding the 2023 Town budgets.

That the Council of the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield recommends to the Minister of Local Government and Local Governance Reform, the following for Ministerial approval:

General Operating Budget 2023

  • The sum of $7,644,123 be the total operating budget of the local government of Grand Bay–Westfield for the 2023 fiscal year.
  • The sum of $6,920,681 be the Warrant to the local government for the 2023 fiscal year.
  • The tax rate for Ward 1 will be $1.3501 for the 2023 fiscal year.
  • The levying by the Minister of Local Government and Local Governance Reform of said amount on real property liable to taxation under the Assessment Act within the local government of Grand Bay–Westfield.

Sewerage Utility Budget 2023

That the Council of the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield adopt the 2023 Sewerage Utility Budget, reflecting total revenue of $652,869 and total expenditures of $652,869 with the sewerage user rate of $350 per unit, effective January 1, 2023, subject to Ministerial approval.

Capital Budget 2023

That the Council of the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield recommends to the Minister of Local Government and Local Governance Reform, the 2023 Capital Budget in the amount of $2,498,315 be adopted as presented, subject to Ministerial approval.

The 2023 budgets support the four (4) strategic priorities of Council: Smart Growth, Organizational Capacity, Infrastructure and Climate Adaptation, and Community Vitality.
