Delay in sidewalk clearing until February 24, 2025

Published: February 21, 2025 @ 3:00 p.m.

The Town’s Public Works Department crews have been working hard to clear snow and ice from Town roads and sidewalks.

The constant use of the Town’s three (3) sidewalk tractors, and the challenging ice conditions from the recent weather system, have caused mechanical breakdowns. This has resulted in all three of the sidewalk tractors being placed out of service.
Due to this, clearing of snow and ice from Town sidewalks will be delayed until February 24, 2025.
The crews will continue their efforts of snow and ice removal from Town roads.

We understand the importance of clear sidewalks, especially during this time of year. The Town extends appreciation to its residents for their patience and understanding.

Pedestrians are reminded of the following safety tips

Wear appropriate footwear, such as boots with good traction/grips, to prevent slipping on icy surfaces;

Dress in layers to stay warm;

Walk slowly and carefully, taking small steps to maintain balance on slippery surfaces;

Make eye contact with approaching motorists before crossing the road;

Stay visible by wearing reflective clothing;

Be aware of your surroundings and watch out for ice patches or other hazards.

Reminders for motorists

Allow for extra travel time;

Keep a safe distance from other vehicles;

Pay extra attention for pedestrians.
