Two (2) Grand Bay-Westfield crosswalks have recently been vandalized with tire skid marks.

These include the crosswalk in honour of Truth and Reconciliation on Woolastook Drive near the Veterans Peace Park (Cenotaph), as well as the rainbow crosswalk at the intersection of River Valley Drive and Epworth Park Road.

After being advised of the vandalism, Town Administration notified the Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP.

“The vandalism to these crosswalks is unacceptable, and does not reflect the wider Grand Bay-Westfield community. We are a diverse and inclusive community that remains committed to the Town’s vision of A welcoming place to live, grow and thrive – for everyone.” – Mayor Brittany Merrifield

The crosswalks have been assessed by the Town’s Works Department, who will work to remove the tire skid marks.

Grand Bay-Westfield RCMP advise that an investigation into the vandalism is underway, and ask anyone with information to call the Detachment at (506) 757-1020 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
