At the May 12, 2025 Council Meeting, Town Council adopted the Corporate Energy Action Plan.

The Plan was prepared and presented by GEMTEC Consulting Engineers and Scientists.

The Plan outlines a comprehensive framework for reducing corporate greenhouse gas emissions and improving energy efficiency across Town operations. It provides both strategic and operational recommendations, such as enhancing building insulation, transitioning fleet vehicles to electric vehicles, and leveraging renewable energy sources.

Key features include:

  • A new emissions tracking Standard Operating Procedure and Excel-based tool for annual reporting.
  • Community survey engagement results, informing plan priorities.
  • Integration of operational actions with incentive programs to maximize community-wide impact.

“The Climate Energy Action Plan directly aligns with Council’s Strategic Priorities, including Infrastructure and Climate Adaptation. This Plan serves as a key document supporting climate adaptation, cost efficiency, and responsible municipal growth.”  – Mayor Brittany Merrifield
