Committee seeking community feedback on Veterans Peace Park

On behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion Baview Branch # 22

The Veterans Peace Park Committee is seeking feedback from the community:

The Project History:

The Royal Canadian Legion Bayview Branch # 22 is desirous of transforming the aging Grand Bay-Westfield Cenotaph by the post office, into a Veterans Peace Park. The current, mature trees would remain but enhancements to lighting, shrubbery, flowers, seating, walkways, additional flag poles and monuments, and the overall ambiance, would promote an overall atmosphere of peace and reflection for all Residents to enjoy 12 months a year.

The Legion was successful in obtaining funding from Crane Mountain Enhancements this year to pay for a professional landscape architect to design a conceptual artist’s rendering based on the input that was provided by area Veterans, Legion Members and the First Nations. Attached are renderings from different angles that were received last week from the Glenn Group Landscape Architects of Fredericton. We would greatly appreciate comments and suggestions from the Residents of Grand Bay-Westfield before we task the architect to finalize the layout.

It is the Legion’s goal to have a new Veterans Peace Park developed in stages over a few years, with funding received from corporate and individual donations, from foundations and from any Legion and federal and provincial government funding programs.

We would appreciate feedback from the Community until the end of the day, Friday, October 1st. Feedback time frame is now closed.
