In collaboration with Westfield Elementary and Inglewood Schools, the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield is pleased to present the 2023 Grand Bay-Westfield Mayor for a Day Contest.
The Contest is open to Grade 3-5 students who attend Grand Bay-Westfield schools, or Grade 3-5 students who are residents of Grand Bay-Westfield and attend Centre scolaire Samuel-de-Champlain, home school programs, or other educational institutions.
Please Note: Contest details have been distributed by the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield to Westfield Elementary and Inglewood Schools.
Students are asked to submit a letter, that answers these questions:
- What do you think the Mayor does for the Town?
- What is the one thing you would do if you were Mayor?
What does the winner receive?
- A tour of the Town Office
- An opportunity to attend and open a Town Council meeting
- An opportunity to join Mayor Merrifield at a selected Town-sponsored event

Grand Bay-Westfield Mayor for a Day Contest Rules and Information
- The deadline for submissions is October 6, 2023 and the winner will be announced on October 11, 2023. The winner will open a future Town Council meeting.
- The Contest is open to Grade 3-5 students who attend Grand Bay-Westfield schools, or Grade 3-5 students who are residents of Grand Bay-Westfield and attend Centre scolaire Samuel-de-Champlain, home school programs, or other educational institutions.
- Participant submissions must include first and last name, age, school, grade, contact phone number, name of parent/guardian and signature of parent/guardian.
- Participants may submit only one idea per response.
- If you are the successful participant, the principal of your school will be contacted, and they will contact you directly.
- Written consent from the winner’s parent/guardian that their child’s name, letter, photo and/or video may be published or broadcast by media organizations as part of the “Mayor for a Day” contest.
- Written consent from the winner’s parent/guardian that their child’s name, letter, photo and/or video may be published on the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield website/social media pages (including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) as part of the “Mayor for a Day” contest.
- Please note: If you are not the successful participant, your application and idea was greatly appreciated, and we look forward to seeing your next submission in the future.
