The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Treasurer in the Finance Department.

Reporting to and partnering with the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Assistant Treasurer will play a key role in the implementation in the financial strategy of the Town of Grand Bay-Westfield. As part of the Finance team, the Assistant Treasurer will take a lead in the processing and analysis of all financial transactions.

The ideal candidate is a well-respected financial professional, preferably with a Community College Diploma in Finance or Accounting, and experience working in an accounting environment within local government or similar public entity. Knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Standards and the financial legislative framework for local governments in New Brunswick, would be considered an asset.

Being a small municipality, the Assistant Treasurer ideally possesses functional knowledge of all financial processes and is keen to pitch-in on all aspects of department work. Key Responsibilities

Manage all payroll processes, including running weekly payroll, benefits administration, pension and union remittances, T4’s, ROES;
Filing of provincial and federal statutory taxes (Payroll taxes, HST, WCB);
Recording daily cash receipts and preparing monthly bank reconciliations;

Managing billing and Accounts Receivable processes;
Processing Accounts Payable invoices and ensuring timely payment;
Providing support for the front desk and taking calls from the public;
Assist CFO with the budget preparation and tracking;
Prepare year end audit working papers;
Tracking of Tangible Capital Asset and Asset Management Plans; and
Prepare financial reports for Council and other departments as required.
