The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield extends appreciation to all applicants for their interest, however, only those candidates being considered for an interview will be contacted.

Any persons having previously submitted resumes to the Town, must re-submit their updated resume, to be considered for the positions. Some positions are conditional on funding availability of the Provincial Student Employment Experience Development (SEED) Program.

Summer Student Recreation Supervisors (Parks and Recreation)

The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield is currently seeking summer students as Recreation Supervisors.

Applicants may require occasional access to a personal vehicle. Vehicle usage will be reimbursed at 50 cents per kilometer, paid monthly.

Summer Student Recreation Supervisors duties and skills include, and not limited to:

Duties:

•             Supervise facility use including opening and closing of facilities
•             Assist with general inquiries and directions
•             Supervise rental events and ensuring facilities are operational
•             Assist official Town events and program delivery

Skills:

•             Outgoing and friendly personality
•             Ability to work well with all types of personalities
•             Good organizational and time management skills
•             Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Salary: $15.75/hour
Hours: 40 hours/week (Includes evenings, weekends and holidays)
Dates: April 20 until August 31, 2023 (Subject to availability)

Summer Student Parks Supervisor (Parks and Recreation)

The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield is currently seeking one (1) summer student as a Parks Supervisor.

Applicants may require occasional access to a personal vehicle. Vehicle usage will be reimbursed at 50 cents per kilometer, paid monthly.

Summer Student Parks Supervisor duties and skills include, and not limited to:

Duties:

  • Parks and facility monitoring and maintenance of Town Facilities
    •             Daily review of all Town parks, playgrounds, ballfields, tennis/pickleball courts, trails and recreation facilities
    •             Some light sweeping, mopping, dusting, and cleaning of community centres may be required
    •             Ensuring facility lawns are free of litter and debris

Skills:

  • Outgoing and friendly personality
    •             Ability to work well with all types of personalities
    •             Good organizational and time management skills
    •             Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Salary: $15.75/hour
Hours: 40 hours/week (Includes evenings, weekends and holidays)

Summer Student Labourers (Works Department)

The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield is currently seeking summer students as Labourers.

Summer Student Labourers duties and skills include, and not limited to:

Requirements:

Supply own steel toe work boots;
Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence;
Education: Grade 12 or higher; and
Able to work weekends and holidays.

Skills:

Ability to operate small power tools, lawn mowers (ride-on and push);
Ability to stand for long durations;
Ability to work with others;
Ability to work alone; and
Ability to work from written instructions.

Preferences:

Valid Traffic Control Person certificate; and
Valid First Aid Training and CPR training.

Salary: $15.75/hour
Hours: 40 hours/week (8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.)
Dates: April 24 until August 31, 2023 (Subject to availability)

Summer Student Engineering Assistant (Works Department)

The Town of Grand Bay-Westfield is currently seeking one (1) summer student, an Engineering Assistant.

Requirements:
Applicants require daily access to a vehicle for field inspections. Vehicle usage will be reimbursed at 50 cents per kilometer, paid monthly;
Computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and has access to an email account;
Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence; and
Supply own steel toe work boots.

Education:
Minimum first (1st) year University, preference for Civil Engineering Degree Program.

Salary: $18.00/hour
Hours: 35 hours/week (including special events such as Canada Day, as required)
Dates: April 24 until August 31, 2023 (Subject to availability)
